Christmas Cookie Recipes - Candy Cane Cookies

Everyone loves candy canes and you will love these cookies in the shape of festive holidays.

1 / 2 cup shortening

1 / 2 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons egg, lightly beaten

1 1 / 4 cups flour

1 / 2 teaspoon salt

1 / 2 teaspoon almond extract

1 / 2 teaspoon vanilla

1 / 4 teaspoon red food coloring

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Powdered sugar icing

In a bowl, 3 cups powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar and 2 to 3 tablespoons milk. Stir until well blended. In the refrigerator up to 1 week before use. Before use, allow the ice to melt at room temperature. You can thin by adding a few drops of milk. Makes about 1 cup.
