Since both my husband and I have time for family to see at Christmas, we spend time with his family in our house on Christmas Eve and my family Their house on Christmas Day. Like my mom always makes a nice big dinner and we have so much going at the moment, usually make a snack buffet table for Christmas Eve in our house.
It 'very easy and helps my stress level low. I do all the time and shortly beforeTable until later. I do not fancy table decoration, but also a nice tablecloth and pretty holiday home poinsettia paper plates and napkins. It has become tradition that everyone looks forward to it, because it offers an easy and delicious snacks all day. The best part is that with paper plates, no dishes or pots and pans to wash! The parties just to get any clean food, that is, if not!
Here are some tips to plan your own snack buffet. If you have time to write, take a piece of paper and start a few. Write down all the recipes that come to mind later, as we read:
~ Trays of things to dip is always popular. I like to share a vegetarian platter with ranch dip (I use the `Uncle Dans' found in the grocery store, to dip) and an assortment of crackers with my favorite recipe for clam dip.
~ A tray of sandwich stuff. Load a tray of cold cuts and cheeses, andSandwich of other things like onions, tomatoes, cucumber, mayonnaise and mustard. You might try a tray of club sandwich or Reuben sandwich stuff stuff. You can also experiment with different breads such as sourdough or rye party.
~ Biscuits and cakes. Every year I make two or three of our favorite family recipes that have been entered. What is your favorite family cookie and candy recipes?
Drinks ~. The Irish Cream recipe belowserved on ice cream is wonderful and a special surprise. We also buy pop and beer, and this seems to make everyone happy. Maybe you have a favorite punch, eggnog or hot butter rum recipe, you want to use.
~ Crunchy things. I always have the Chex mix out.
Do not forget you have family or other guests contribute! This gives you more variety and less work! Tell them to bring an element of type snacks.
